There are some people who seem to remain perennially happy, and there are some who don’t seem happy, despite having the best of everything. Flow: The Psychology Of Happiness, analyses the behaviour of all kinds of people and tries to answer a simple question - What makes people happy? The author tries to explore the innermost feelings of people who remain happy, and calls this deeply edifying state of mind as ‘flow’, which also happens to be the title of this book.

Author Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi has studied people during their times of greatest joy and happiness, in order to understand what goes on in the mind of a person when they are immensely happy. He postulates that when the mind is concentrated on an activity which the person finds joyous, it leads to a state of happiness. It evokes a sense of joy which is rarely seen. The book therefore gains a lot of importance in the contemporary study of the human mind. It also discusses, the major issues that contribute to happiness in detail, like sport, art, music, relationships, and other things. The mind must have a positive experience in order to experience happiness.

The book contains information that is well-researched and can help people who are looking for overall well-being in their lives. Flow: The Psychology Of Happiness was published by RHUK in 2002, and is available in paperback.
